Among the many accolades on Jamie Foxx’s resume, he can now add another: a doctorate degree.
Jamie received the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Jarvis Christian College during the 2018 Spring Commencement activities. Foxx was honored by the college for his commitment to his hometown of Terrell, the support he shows the area and his work as an activist.
He says along the way he’s learned many things over the years, but the most important is maintaining his Texas roots and uplifting the community.
Foxx also will become the college’s newest Visiting Distinguished Professor. He said he plans on speaking to students whenever possible.
“It’s great to grow up in Texas and have something to come back to,” Foxx said after the ceremony. “To look out at their faces and be part of their history and inspiration is incredible.”
